Unless your garage foundation was built with 4′ frost walls and adequate footings, it’s not possible to build a second story on top of your existing garage. This is due to the different foundation requirements. 

You would need to entirely demolish the existing garage and the pad to be able to build a garage with a suite on top. You would need a professional drawing along with engineered structural drawing to supply the city of Calgary for dev. permits which we can help you with.
