Building Inspections During the Covid-19 Pandemic
Covid-19 has certainly didn’t leave anyone indifferent. The construction industry had to get adapted to the new regulations, protocols and inspections on projects.
Most jurisdictions including the City of Calgary implemented a new way of conducting building, electrical and gas inspection on construction sites, and residents of the premises on which the job took place.
The process involves a video-call inspection where the homeowner downloads a free video interaction app called Google Duo. Prior to the inspection the inspector will call the homeowner to verify the homeowner could successfully install the app and able to technically perform the video invitation.
On the day of the inspection the City inspector would call the homeowner and instruct him on the points he/she needs to look at in order to ensure compliance with the safety code and the Alberta Building Code
